Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER)

Corrections

Page 6 of the STAFFING FOR ADEQUATE FIRE AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE, PROGRAM AND APPLICATION GUIDANCE, July 2007, incorrectly identifies NFPA 1002 as the standard for which Firefighter II training is applied.

NFPA 1001, Standard for Fire Fighter Professional Qualifications is the correct and appropriate NFPA Standard on Firefighter I and Firefighter II Training. All SAFER-funded personnel must comply with NFPA 1001 training standards.

NFPA 1002, Standard on Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications is the correct and appropriate NFPA Standard on Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. This standard is not a requirement of the SAFER program and shall only apply to SAFER grantees that will train their SAFER-hired firefighters to drive and/or operate fire apparatus.
